His dad, <strong>Gordy Wolter<\/strong>, was a <em>Fifty-Year Member<\/em> and a member of the Far Western District\u2019s wackiest quartets, <strong>The Beaver Inn Four<\/strong>. One of Al\u2019s earliest childhood memories is of his dad\u2019s first quartet, The <strong>Badger Statesmen<\/strong>, coming back from a performance in Wisconsin. <strong>Gordy<\/strong> was a founding member of the <strong>Beloit Wisconsin Chapter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>While he often went to the <em><strong>Whittier Chapter<\/strong><\/em> meetings with his dad and was on stage in the chapter\u2019s production of <em>\u201cShowboat\u201d<\/em> at age 12, he didn\u2019t join <em>The Society<\/em> until 1985. An interaction with the <em><strong>Narragansett Bay Chorus<\/strong><\/em> from Providence RI that year, highlighted his need to find his voice. Since then, he\u2019s been a member of five chapters; <em><strong>Whittier, Stockton, Sacramento, Central California,<\/strong><\/em> and the<em><strong> Frank Thorne Chapter-at-Large<\/strong><\/em>; three registered quartets; and has participated in chorus contests singing bass, lead, and tenor \u2013 guess he is still trying to find it.<\/p>\n<p>Al has held <em>ALL<\/em> the Chapter Board positions, served as Show Chairman, as well as Assistant Director, Choreography Coach and Section Leader and has been recognized as Stockton\u2019s <strong>Barbershopper of the Year<\/strong>. He is also a <em><strong>Far Western District Bachelor of Harmony<\/strong><\/em>, an honor he shared with his father (the first father and son recipients). He has been a member of the <strong>NorCal-East Divisional Novice Quartet Champion<\/strong> three times (with Right from The Start in 2000 and Tune Struck in 2005 &amp; 2008),<\/p>\n<p>He divides his barbershopping activities with the time he shares with his wife <strong>Donna<\/strong>, whom he married Valentine\u2019s Day in 1988, her three grown children and their families (including his 10 grandchildren).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Al (Tune Struck\u2019s original Tenor) is a second generation Barbershopper.
